Monteiths Lemon and Lime Flavoured Radler is refreshing fruity lager, based on the original style brewed in Bavaria in the 1920s. In search of an invigorating brew, locals developed an easy drinking lager bier with a citrus twist - flavoured with lemon and lime. Monteiths Radler faithfully recreates the experience, brewed to full strength with distinctive hoppy notes, a hint of natural lemon juice and a zesty citrus finish.

Havent had one of these for years, but can still taste the lemon/lime syrup that was injected into a bland beer. "This beers not very good, Mr Monteith. Should we tip it down the drain?" "No son, try and disguise it with something. This dishwashing liquid should work, plus it will aid the head"

Barely a beer, a bit of the "premix" type sweet drink throughout (think west coast cooler for those familiar). But actually not put that badly together to make it interesting enough

On tap. Pours orange. No nose that I would notice. If there were some malt and hops taste in this Id say it was balanced, because the lime taste (despite feeling artificial) is well blended into the rest. But like this? No no no.

Bottle from Ueda. A deep copper gold with a light beige head that has a HUGE ginger ale/citrusy sprite like aroma. Nice enough but kind of overpowering. The body is the on the thin side with a club soda-ish carbonation. The flavor is a ginger ale/7 up with some cardboard, lime and light malts.Overall the flavor isnt bad but it is more soda than beer like which isnt so strange or off-style for a radler I guess.

330 ml bottle bought at Great Food hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty during the New Zealand food festival promotion.

Shandy-like pale dull golden colour; Half finger head with soapy white foam which faded in 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing and very slight carbonation; Very sweet smell of Shandy-like lemonade, with sugar, carbo, light malt, artifical lemon, lime, soggy bread and very stale light grass; Light sweet taste of very light malt, with thin lemonade, aspartame, 7-Up, strong carbo, soggy bread, faint bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body, thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is quite stale light lemonade and thin malt. Sweetness is low, but has that diet-coke like astpartame palate which annoys me a lot; Strong carbo and 7-Up taste isnt very endearing, either... Hoppiness is faint grass in nose and taste. Notes of bitterness in background. Soda-pop finish; Wet after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: Wanna say something good about this one but its tough, when its Shandy from start to finish, annoying artificial sweetener and still-life lemonade to impress? If you dont like aspartame like I do, then stay away from this one. The horror!

Not a bad little beer, refreshing as all eff. Much better than macro offerings with lime flavour already added. Still fake tasting. Its a pale yellow zippy thing with a light spice and lots of citrus and lime. Hops were not too distinguishable over the additives but the malt was decent. Great on a scorcher but I try to avoid beers with artifical flavours now.
