Nice and very drinkable. It was refreshing to find a nice dark ale on tap after having light lagers for a week in Melbourne.
Clear, dark brown with a reddish hue. Roasted, chocolate malt character. Medium carbonation. Slight bitterness but more of a metallic aftertaste than anything else. KeefOz (1838) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - MAR 30, 2017
Draught at MONA, Hobart. Poured a translucnet clear deep mahogany red with a 5mm tan dense foam head that retained well and laced well. Carbonation moderate, slow and medium to coarse. Aroma of sweet malt with hints of chocolate. Taste is slightly roasted, slight sweetness, slight coffee and hints of milk chocolate. Light body. Crisp, clean and smooth with a slight but nice bitterness on a short finish. bitterlady (72) - - FEB 4, 2017
basement dark, not much head but sits with a cesspool of crema. Licorice nose, sips chocolate with burnt caramel centre. Light and malty, having grown up on old styles like this one it becomes a comfort beer for me and maybe best drunk in more autumnal circumstances. Pours cloudy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty and caramel with some bread. Taste is medium sweet leading to a roasty finish. TedE (1328) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 19, 2016
Half pint at Basement Brewhouse. Chocolate/cocoa nose. Mahogany red beer with thin white head. Flat mouthfeel, sweet chocolate finish. A little tangy fruitiness lingers. Stupidly easy drinking. Gone in two minutes.

From a bottle. Pours a dark copper brown with thin lacing head. Aroma is soft, with toast, chocolate and coffee. Taste is coffee, toffee and a touch of liquorice. Palate is a nice medium body. Moderately carbonated. Really good. Westkyoto77 (635) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 3, 2016
(Arty) bottle. Dark reddish-brown. Delicious toffee and prune aromas. Toasty malts. Medium body, medium carbonation. Slightly sticky and supple. Very moreish. My favourite from Moo Brew so far. Pyobon (1400) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JAN 8, 2016
(Bottle) Clear mid brown with deep red hue, slight tan head. Nice aroma - notes of chocolate, toast and hints of toffee. Medium body with plenty of soft carbonation. Nice taste - toasted malt, chocolate, some pleasant bitterness in finish. Very nice dark ale. richlamb (18) - AUSTRALIA - OCT 4, 2015
There’s no US character in this beer, but as an English brown its not bad. The aroma had no hops, but quite a nice malty chocolate.
Flavour very well balanced with appropriate carbonation, but a touch of astringency in the finish.
Nice with a chicken roll for lunch.
