3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle from the prince of wales in newcastle. dark brown, murky with a frothy brown head; plenty of rye bread dough in the aroma along with a bit of over-ripe banana, cocoa powder, sherbet; slightly gluggy texture; somewhat salty, hinting at a touch of smoked malt with some caramel, decent bitterness; curious at the very least

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330mL bottle from Slowbeer.
I must confess, I’d tried this beer last week at the brewery itself, but there was one sitting in the fridge awaiting rating - so I digress.
Looks the goods - deep brown, inch of dense tan head hangs around, leaving good lace.
Nose is quite intense - spicy, grassy, woody, passionfruity, lemony hops, rich dark caramels, biscuit, touch of roast nuttiness.
Body is chewy, somewhat creamy, rather sumptuous without being overly rich, moderate carbonation.
Punches a bit harder on the body - chocolatey, biscuity, toasted nutty, dark caramel malts lay the foundation for resiny, grassy, spicy, citrus hops. Lots of bitterness, lots of structure, some fruity ester undertones there too. Heaps going on, heaps to enjoy - that 8% abv goes completely unnoticed!
Fantastic stuff, these guys are insane but they brew some amazing beers!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beerfest Asia, Singapore on 28/06/15. 33cl bottle. Full bodied and mecium carbonation. A hazy dark chocolate colour with a frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel, malt, chocolate and pine. Full flavour profile - a wonderful malt backbone, chocolate, caramel, a little coffee, spices and lots of hops. A lovely hoppy brown ale with a bittersweet spicy finish. Pretty damn good. Well done Moon Dog!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep chocolate, with a decent head. Sweet confectioners chocolate on the nose and a hint of biscuit. Big roasted notes on the palate pushing through chocolate and coffee, with a drying almost tannic finish. Quite bitter helping a long finish. Carbonation is a little high but good stuff

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Lovely dark chocolate colour with an off white quickly dissipating head. Hints of coffee and biscuit on the nose with a beautiful, smooth, rich coffee and chocolate taste. This beer is really smooth. I love it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thick lasting tan head, laces well, huge malty aroma with a hint of spice, roasted malt flavours and a medium bitterness on the back palate. Great beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Works out as a bitter English brown ale with Belgian yeast flavours and dark coffee-chocolate and caramel in the mix. Enjoyable for winter.

Big rich roasted nutty flavours. Has a warming feeling. A nice change from a style that I typically find watery and bland.
