Totally confusing candi-Sugar front reminds you so much of Belgium style beers, then there is a real crash of alcohol astringent that’s just a little to harsh and over powering for me. Pours a murky brown with no head. Aromas of apple jack, caramel, and alcohol (cherry cough syrup). Fairly alcoholic hot with caramel and apple flavours. Again, reminiscent of cough syrup. Body is medium-low with a sticky mouthfeel. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 22, 2014

Nose is sweet, caramel, toffee, a little floral hop and pineapple.
Flavour is lovely and sweet, with lots of toffee, some calvados from those barrels, vanillia, slightly yeasty,
Body is medium to full and slightly sticky.
At cellar temperature and into a snifter it settles a misty, ruddy chestnut with a small amount of undissolved yeast on the base. Little carbonation and little head retention. Nose has hints of boozy, Calvados soaked raisins (nose tickling stuff!), mace-like spice, toffee brittle, damp lumber, apple cider vinegar and grainy, dark malts. Quite bitter upon first taste which is unexpected. Body is lighter than anticipated which an oily feel to it. Big lot of warmth in the bitter, burnt fruit and wood finish. Quite vinous and there is a hint of creaming soda and toffee apple left lingering on the palate from the Calvados barrel-ageing. I reckon a little wild yeast is at play as it shyly hairy and funky in back. Roasted malt dominates the front of the palate, and overall it is quit dry for the length. 330mL bottle. Pours deep cloudy amber with a small off white head and a very zesty/funky aroma. Pours dark copper with a small white head.
Nose shows tart green apples, caramel, soft booze, french oak, toffee, lychee, passion fruit. Pretty awesome.
Flavours don’t quite match up, some caramel, apple, cardboard-like grainy malt and booze. Finishes quite harsh with a fair bit of booze.

Amber with a small off-white head that lasts very well. Aroma is of toffee apples, mild funk, some alcohol. Medium bodied. Taste is sweet with a big Calvados finish that’s rumblingly warm. The beer gets a little overwhelmed here, but there’s toffee, a little funk and a fair bit of bitterness too. Too much like a beer cocktail for my tastes, but it’s fun and done well.
