the name given a new hoppy, low-alcohol pale ale from the minds of Brewmeister John Pinkerton and his talented assistant, Chris Lady, at Moon River Brewing Company. While Savannahfest remains the microbrewery’s flagship, it’s apparent that Slow-vannah and its session beer characteristics could propel it into become a leading, year-round offering.

Hazy light amber. Lemony, melony hop aroma with a lightly perfumey accent. Smooth body. Lots of grapefruity hops mesh with an overall canteloupey character.

Scopey (15431) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2013
Tap at Moon River. It pours pale golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is crisp, grain, floral, hay and pithy citrus. The taste is clean, crisp, floral, straw, wood, light citrus and biscuit with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, easy-going session beer. Refreshing

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a clear pale amber-gold color with a thin off-white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and caramel malt. Light-bodied and crisp with flavors of grassy hops, citrus and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Slightly above average all around.

drowland (8938) - Georgia, USA - JUL 16, 2013
5/22/13. On tap at the brewery. Amber pour with a small khaki head. Light hop character with some caramel and bready malts. Light, thin flavor, some caramel and light hops, but to be expected for a session pale ale. Not too bad.

radagast83 (8301) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 4, 2011
At SAVOR. Poured a amber color with a small, white head. Aroma was floral and citrus nops, with a solid malt character to it. Flavor is malt, almost biscuit, with a nice citrus floral arrangement. This was so incredibly sessionable.

PorterPounder (8226) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 7, 2009
Pint, on tap at the brewpub in Savannah. Light orange pour, nice white head, solid lacing. Slight hint of floral notes in the aroma - fresh. Slight minty notes in the flavor with a slight citrus bent. Nothing really jumps out - just smooth drinking and a good meal accompaniment. Clean, even mouthfeel.

(Rating #2256)
