(Sampler) 4oz sample glass at the brewpub. Pours a large, frothy beige head atop a mahogany body. Nose refreshingly marshmellow, roasted malt and wheaty. Not as overly sweet and thick as Schneider Aventinus, one of my Top10 personal favourites, but this beer is substantial, well balanced... nice mild fig and vanilla, good palate. Thinner than Aventinus but this still looks like it’ll stand up for a few months to cellaring. Nice work to the new owners of Moon Under Water.
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2016 On tap at Alibi Room. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma and taste are sweet, with fruity-berry notes (like cranberry), roasted malt, slightly bready. Marron foncé avec un tête moyen marron. L’arôme des raisins sec, du malt sucré, et un peu du chocolat. Le goût est du malt sucré, les fruits noir, et un très peu du chocolat. Pours a translucent dark brown, no head. Aroma: Lots of raisins, bit of chocolate. Palate: Medium bodied, fizzy. Taste: Very sweet, with a surprisingly tart finish. Not too complex, but nice. Cloudy medium brown, has a yeasty and slightly floral aroma. Very sweet, a bit alcoholic as well, with accents of dates, candied orange peel, banana, and maybe a touch of chocolate. I’m not nuts about it, but it fits the style nicely. Ferris (15013) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 8, 2013
Draft - Dark malts, raisin, bread and toffee. Cloudy brown with a rich brown head. Clove, mint, molasses, dark malts, raisin and more. Really nice, I think this is a winner.

650ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a finger and a half of light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits and light roasted grains with some chocolate and grass. Taste is a grassy hop and roasted grain bitterness with a dark fruit and chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Bomber. Clear dark copper, lasting compact creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted wheat, banana and yeast. Taste is caramel, sweet milk chocolate, toasted wheat malt, yeasty fruitiness and bubblegum. Carbonation is too soft, medium bodied, lightly hopped. While the ABV is well hidden, there is a definite alcohol warming effect. Light spice, clove and citrus show up in a rather flat finish.
