COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heather blossom honey from Northern Scotland, it’s earthy, deep and dank... think how you can taste honey in a dish, well multiply that by 10, the blueberries are the small tiny berries that grow wild in New England, we use almost 4 lbs per gallon. This is a dry mead, while the honey is aggressively floral and present in the flavor it’s tart, almost like a lambic. If the honey isn’t as assertive well you are back to the version we make with Wildflower honey.. it’s a softer more gentle approach. We suggest pairing with a triple cream brie

Very dry, honey and blueberry notes throughout, very clean tasting. Quite good.

Bottle from the source. Brilliantly clear deep purple. Beautiful nose of tart berry and light sweet honey. Somewhat dry and almost puckering with the tart berry and tannins. IMHO this needs a bit of sweetness to round it out completely.

Pours a dark ruby color. Aroma of dark fruit and flowered. Taste of blueberry, dark fruit and honey. Slightly tart and quite dry. The ABV is present but not overpowering. Very enjoyable.

Bottle purchased at my local Market Basket. Sat in my basement for close to a year. Time to open... Purple ruby color. Aroma is mild berries with a pretty strong amount of honey.

Flavor has a bit more ancho then I was expecting. Mild blueberry, hint of old lady’s perfume and a good amount of wildflower honey. If the alcohol was toned down it would improve the overall experience.

rumproasts (5592) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 20, 2015
bottle. Deep ruby with minimal head. Melomel with very light carbonation. Honey sweetness with plenty of indistinct berry. Good stuff, but doesn’t compare to Ken Schramm’s stuff, which is in a whole another league. For the price, I was hoping for something closer to amazing.

Reddish brown pour. Aromas of potpourri and alcohol. Super floral. Not my thing. Pretty aggressive taste too.

Poured a purple color. Still. Aroma of blueberry wine, sweat and booze. Flavor was a harsh acidity or astringency that hard to describe, alcohol burn, and a berry finish. Not too great.

Bottle from The Beer Junction, Seattle; synthetic cork
Measured Final Gravity: 1010

Dark red dull color. Mild aroma of berry wine. Smooth mouthfeel in the front, lightly alcoholic and astringent later. Some berry flavor, but no harmony, and most of all no mead character. I’m drinking expensive booze, I don’t think I’m getting value for the bucks.
