At the Monk’s Kettle and Toronado I found this example of brewing perfection. If you could get this on a handpull with a sparkler from a well-kept cellar (no offence Toronade, but you ain’t got a Scooby) it would hit a full 5.0 I’m sure.
Malt: beautiful, biscuity, caramel malt that hits you with it’s sweetness in that smooth mouthfeel before you start to get the hop aromas so piney and grassey and.. oops, I think I just need to get some Kleenex. Anyway, what a beer. The guy that makes this is a F*&^%ng genius. Wasted on the Americans. I’m not joking, in the Toranado the girl behind the bar warned me it was "warm and flat" because she clearly has no appreciation for cask and when I got it I wanted to slap her. JUst a great beer that offers brilliant complex malt and superb, fresh, prominent US hop flavours with just the right amount of bitterness. No one in the UK makes a cask bitter this good, to my knowledge.
