On tap at Toronado. A finger-thick off-white head sites in top of an amber body, nice curtains. The aroma is light and easy, with some fruits and some bread. There’s a pleasant and subtle bitterness in the flavor, dealing with the light malty sweetness. Some bread. Caramel hints too. Medium body, very soft. Lasting bitter finish. Certainly a nice one, maybe deserving a higher rating. 130804 joshwoodward (575) - - AUG 3, 2013
Had a pint from a firkin at Toronado in SF. Solid, nice hoppiness and bitterness. Nice real ale candidate. prawlie (1591) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2013
On draught at Beer Revolution in Oakland. Red-brown, clear, head doesn’t stick around for long. Dry hop taste, bitter, but has some body to it. After the initial hop shock its quite smooth. The aroma is good, hoppy hint of toastiness, and some citrus zest. bmsulliv (219) - - FEB 21, 2013
Room temp hand pumped. Smells dank. Dark copper red. Tastes malty but luckily a nice hop kick balances it out

An interesting beer. Pours a beautiful red with a thick white head. Not much smell, a little hops. Taste is hoppy, a little creamy, not much else. Had on tap at Hopmonk.

Cask from the Toronado in SF. Pours copper with a tiny light beige head. Nose of toffee malts and English hops. Balance of sweet and bitter taste. Simple but great. timfoolery (1126) - California, USA - AUG 7, 2012
On tap at the Toronado. Flavor is lightly malty and sweet with a slight bitter hop...served lukewarm. Eh, wha?

16 ounce sample on cask at Toronado. Fruity and estery aroma with some berries and a piney, spruce-like quality present. I almost get some rye in this beer...actually, a lot. Transparent dark amber body with a medium, creamy off-yellowish head present. Fantastic lacing. Spicy, black pepper flavors are present to start, with a nice roastiness in the middle. Some toast is also there. Finishes lightly metallic with more spiciness that seems to be rye to me. Pretty good stuff. lightandrhythm (63) - - MAY 26, 2012
Deep amber color. Sharp on the palate and very hoppy for an ESB. Darker malt flavor balances the bitter hops nicely.

Pretty decent English bitter drank cask conditioned tonight. Bitterness tends to overwhelm the more subtle flavors that come through occasionally.
