Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dark fruits with some raisin and backing toffee. Flavor has notes of dates and raisins with a bit of toffee and a hint of booze. BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - SEP 13, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at the brewpub. Clear orange pour. Aroma is yeast and citrus esters. Lighter palate. Not great. Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 22, 2012
Draught at Moonshine brewpub, Chicago. Stickey sweet body. Apples. Yeasty. Phenols. Banana notes. Herbal. Ok hoppy. Light citrus. Too phenolic. Bubblegum. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - FEB 18, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy, orange-gold colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is on the sweeter side with some bready Belgian yeast, a light caramel, some grain, and a hint of wheat. Banana, a light clove spice, and a light citrus. Flavor is similar. Pretty sweet and malty with more bready Belgian yeast, a light caramel, and some grainy wheat. A light banana, some clove, light citrus, and some herbal hops giving this a spicy bitterness. Finishes sweet, but dry and somewhat bitter from the hops and yeasty spice keeping this fairly well balanced. Lengthy aftertaste following a fairly full, smooth body and a softer, moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad Belgian Strong. It starts off pretty malty and somewhat sweet, but a nice Belgian yeast spice and herbal hopping dries this nicely and gives it a balanced bitterness. Hides the alcohol well and stays pretty easy drinking. Not bad.
