3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted 8/18/11. Pint draft from the brewpub. Pours hazy with a honey-ish hue. Lacing white head. Estery and floral nose with banana and strawberry notes and a touch of pepper. Nice caramel malts and a fruity yeast flavor. Honey and spices, grassy and tangy hops, and the banana ester. This seemed like a Triple style, but Grand Cru is such an arbitrary term anyway.

7/20/2011: Moonshine Prince Albert Belgian Style Grand Cru... Aroma: Spicy and fruity; typcial Belgian yeast character; orange and some nutmeg(?). Appearance: Cloudy gold color; frothy off-white head. Flavor: Fresh, ripe pear, peach, and other fleshy fruits; mild pice; subdued Belgian character. Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth mouthfeel. Overall: Reminds me of a stronger Blue Moon
Draught sample (7.5% ABV) at Moonshine in Chicago, IL. Rating #4 for this beer.
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had notes of light fruit and sweet grain with a bit of sweetness from a backing caramel note and a hint of citrus. Flavor began with sweet grain and caramel but mellowed a bit allowing some citrus to come out. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2011
Sampler flight on tap at Moonshine (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice glowing orange gold pour, a healthy whitish head with a frothy lingering ring, bigger, good lacing. Aromas are touches of fruity esters, banana and apple, touch of pear with light spiciness, touch of grassy hops, some lingering yeast and sweeter bready doughy malts, touch of honey. Initial is lighter bodied, with some touches of ABV heat, spicy yeast, and fruity apples, pears, touches of bitter and citrusy lemon, some florals. Growing ABV heat, with some lightness to the body. A touch of honey, sweeter mellow drink. The heat is a little strong, and for thr strength lacks some life. Still, it doesn’t get TOO sweet. Ok.
