Style: Black Ale Draught ABV: 4.7% Illusion is our latest creation, which is inspired by the awesome new beer style created in the States known as Imperial Black Ale. We really admire the profile of this new style but wanted a session strength version. We brewed ours at 4.5% instead of the typical 8%+, but wanted to retain the unique flavour profile. We sourced the special malt required from Germany and the hops from America to create a beer of stunning depth and complexity. The beer is black in appearance but lacks the acrid flavours associated with all other dark beers. This is achieved through use of the special German malt. The hop aromas and flavours are very intense, which we achieve through a major dose of dry-hopping in the cask. The result is a beer that wraps all the wonderful hop profiles of a pale ale inside a silky black exterior. It is truly an Illusion that deceives your eyes and dazzles your taste buds. Due to the rare nature of these special ingredients it is a limited release beer, but we are looking at making it more regularly available if possible.

14/20 impressed that this is only 4.7. Big taste, IPA to start then it's like a stout finish. Would drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of chocolate, wood, nuts and some hops, herbs and coffee. Almost black with a tan head. Medium sweet and medium + bitter. Medium body with a average carbonation. Overall a very decent Black IPA, especially for the ABV

Draught @ William K Kurvi. Poured near black in color with a thin light brown head. Roasted malty, licoricy nose, earthy, malty. Pretty well hopped, fruity flavors, roastedness, mild ash and hops. Mouthdrying finish. Nice body for this abv. Tasty.

(Moor Illusion) Can 330ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 4.5% Black colour on the body, tall and thick beige head on top, with very good retention. Aroma has plenty of hops, with notes of citrus, orange peel, grapefruit, chocolate coming from the back, hazelnut, cocoa. Taste has a nice bitterness, both from the hops and the roasted malts, citrus, grapefruit, grass, chocolate, cocoa. Medium thin body, soft carbonation. Very good.

Lovely smell, a balanced smell. Both hop and malt on smell. Taste is great, really nice malts and fruity hops. Clean crisp texture and not heavy at all. Note to self; get moor...

Can at home. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, mildly fruity bittering hops. Flavour is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Body is light to medium. An easy and refreshing light Black IPA, suits its sessionable purpose, though overall I prefer my BIPA a little more full-bodied.

Tap. Special release. Sometimes the craft brewers share their pain in the American way. (read the commercial description). Anyway this black IPA smells piney to me, although not in an intense way. It pours dark with a persistent tan lacing. It actually tastes good with some pleasant hoppiness and a smooth finish. I just wish they would let the beer speak longer than the marketing guy. This is not America.

Black with a tan-coloured head. Aroma is grassy with some cocoa. Taste is crisp and citric
