(Bottle shared with [email protected] Lord Alwold) Pours a dark brown/black colour with a small to medium tan head. Has a roasted malty aroma and taste with hints of chocolate, licorice, and fruit cake, sweet at first with a roasted slightly bitter finish. Good stuff!

Shared bottle @Christianssand Brygghus. Pours a see-through, very dark brown body. Tall light brown bubble head. Nice aroma. Chocolate and english licorice. Sutle tones of baked apples and yellow fruits. Surprisingly light in body. Chalky texture, yet smooth. Rounded and complex. Dryish cocoa, licorice and toffee. Light plummy. Gently roasted. Fine balancing bitterness. Mild delicate malt-sweetness. A really nice one. [01.12.12]

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A rich black ale with a light brown head that rapidly disappears. It has a strong liquorice and blackcurrant flavour, sherry-like overtones and a mildly smoky finish.

On-tap. The Rover, Gothenburg. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Malty, sweet & roasted, cocoa powder, coffee/mocha, dark fruit, vanilla, alcohol, a bit vineous, slightly tart. For me this is somewhere between a porter and an old ale. Very nice!

Deep appetising damp concrete smell and stout like earthiness. Tan to light beige head. Fairly firm body. Alcohol is well hidden this slowly releases a lot of dark juiciness on the tongue and throat. Lovely development and lingering qualityMaybe a bit tannic but still very drinkable.

Bottle; jet black, tan head which quickly disappeared, looks well carbonated (and is); smells of roast malt, dark berry fruit and tannic red wine; lovely soft, oily mouthfeel; good depth of flavour - slightly sweet, vinous, soft roasted malt, jammy berry fruit and vanilla; a roasted finish; very good indeed.
