Black beer. Head is dark brown with reddish hue, and rather short-lived. Very vinous nose, some solvent (red) grapey, some smoked notes, like firewood. Good! Sharp, sourish taste, woody & piney (resin). [Beer is a few months past its BBd date, but at 7+ ABV...]. Again very vinous, touch of lactic, acetic, and some other acid - malonic? - not sure. Esters volont . Unripe fruit (green plums especially) and a bit of tobacco. Sharp, but not adstringent, some dry out effect. Medium to well-bodied. Like it. Very vinous beer.

On cask at the Marble Arch. A black beer with a decent tan head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, coffee and roasty malt. Similar flavours with alcohol fairly present and lingering roasty malt. Moderate carbonation, an oily mouth-feel and a little CO2 prickle. Quite dry to finish with a hint of apple seed.
