UPDATED: APR 17, 2012 Pours a deep red-black with a big coarse yet fluffy beige head. Some aroma of roast coffee, prunes and old wine, clean and chewy on the palate with an initial smooth hint of chocolate giving way to more roast coffee and malt and then caramelised roasted nuts, and finally emerging into a nutty roast-bitter finish. Cask at the White Horse Pub, London. Pours brown with a modest, off-white head. Lightly roasted malts in the aroma with faint mocha. Flavor is modestly sweet with notes of ash, cocoa and tobacco, along with a fair amount of dry bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Gravity at Cambridge Beer Festival 2010. Red-brown with a short head. Winter berries and chocolate in the scent. Thin. Quite bitter. Coffee and cherries in the mouth. Simple and nice.
