3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On-tap @ the Brewpub.
Amber color. The fresh hop aroma you get right off the bat is great, and I was told all the hops used are locally grown...nice. A solid use of caramel malts, but the hops take over from there and lead to a great, smooth brew that is certainly hop-driven.
I asked the bartender if there were any plans to bottle their beers in the near future, and he actually said they are planning to bottle the Kilbourn Hop Ale soon. Assuming that’s done, it’ll start very local for sure, but it’d be nice to see this one out in stores for more people to try.
Overall impression..this is a very good, hoppy pale ale. You can’t stop at this place and not try this one.
Keg @ Moose Jaw. Somewhat hazy deep amber pour with a small head. Aroma has some C-hop character. Plenty of pine backed by caramel. Flavor is relatively bitter. Assertive resinous bitterness. Rich caramel backbone. Fairly flabby, but the strong carb helps things a bit. Very old school stuff. ozzy70 (1283) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 4, 2016
Tap at Moosejaw Pizza and Brewing in Wisconsin Dells. Poured amber, cloudy, off white head. Aroma is hops, light citrus. Taste was medium bitter, light citrusy hops. arkurzynski (2461) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 27, 2016
Hazy golden amber. Big herbally pine nose. Flavor is more thick herbal pine with some golden malt. Bitter finish. Surprising. BrownALEx (459) - Portland, Michigan, USA - APR 5, 2016
Very suprising beer. Was a little skeptical at first but it truly is a hop ale. Great hop aroma with a great hop taste. Very drinkable, would love to have a few of these. bytemesis (9349) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - DEC 26, 2015
Tap. Pours clear orange, small off white head, decent lacing. Aroma is caramel and buttery citrus and stonefruit hops. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, pine, grapefruit, hints of perfume and stone fruit. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Aroma is strong kiwi/tropical fruit and a hint of fruit/fruit candy. The flavor is tropical fruit, mild hop resin, malts and a bitter/slightly tangy finish. shrubber85 (11672) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - AUG 3, 2015
Bottle. Berry-apple, caramel malt, and orange peel aroma. Amber with large off-white head. Sweet orange caramel malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Body a bit light. Not bad. Patrickctenchi (6750) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUL 22, 2015

Pours cloudy brown with a small beige head.
Caramel, mild piney aroma.
Taste is soft, piney hops over caramel malt.
Very pleasant to drink, nice flavour and decent body.
I’d call it an APA, though.
Bottle from Liquor Central in the Dells. Hazy orange amber pour with a fatguys (76) - Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, USA - APR 19, 2015
bit of a foamy orange head. Aroma has sweet caramel, pine and
citrus. Taste is of sweet caramelly malt, pineapple, pine and light
resin. Medium bodied and chewy. Finishes more bitter than sweet, and
quite rough. Homebrew-ish but reasonably solid in a caramel-hoppy
Amber ale in name only - it’s an American pale ale with a dash of caramel malt for color. Hop-forward with notes of juniper and a touch of flowers. A bit watery but tasty, sessionable.
