Very smooth flavor at first. Palate becomes bitter after several sips. Overall decent ale. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Reviewed from notes. Consumed last summer as I was traveling through Wisconsin Dells.
The appearance is a red/amber colored body, less than a film of a white head. Some carbonation is seen rising.
The smell has some caramel malts up front, light nuttiness.
The taste is mainly sweet throughout, not much balance, caramel aftertaste and a dry finish.
The palate is a light to medium, somewhat sessionable, and adequately carbonated for the style and for me.
Overall, there is nothing bad about this beer, but there is nothing spectacular about it either, still its not bad with food. Christpuncher (3135) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 26, 2013
An average red beer at best. Pretty bitter with a dry finish. Not very hoppy and pours red in color.

Amber with thin off white head. Caramel, floral, and fruity aroma. Medium bodied, flavor like aroma, and mild roast notes. Lite bitterness.

Pours a medium amber color with an average head on it. Really didn’t have too much of a scent to it. Had a really good malt taste to it that finished rather nicely with a nutty after taste. Had a really good taste overall making for a decent beer.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours reddish amber with a tan head. Nose is lighy nutty with caramel sweetness and light herbal hopping. Taste is lightly sweet malt with the same nuttiness, but an odd butter and light sweet bread component. No hopping to speak of. Light and watery, with medium carbonation. Taste is definitely a let down with this one. deyholla (11720) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 14, 2012

Served under the name "rustic red"
Off copper color, thin white head. Avg palate. Rich caramel flavor, quite sweet a bit of maple syrup in the finish. Very one dimensional and the sweet is a bit much, but not too bad. The aroma was really missing again on their beer, very light and grainy with some hints of caramel. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2011
On tap at Moosejaw brewpub as Rustic Red. Dark copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma of toffee, mild fruit and Munich malts. Taste is malty with no real hop presence. Toffee, fruit and a touch of corn round out the bill.
