On tap at brewery, sampler flight. Color is semi-clear coppery, with a tan head clinging to the rim of the glass. Mild malty nose. Thick in mouth with caramel and nutty malt flavors. Sweet and rich. Probably the best all-around beer I had at the brewery. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 18, 2007
On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Clear amber bronze color has a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Sweet grainy caramel malty aroma has some toasty notes. Body starts fairly sweet and has some earthy hop flavor, but needs some more balance and has almost a soapy floral off-flavor. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

On tap at the brewpub in Wisconsin Dells, pours a clear light brownish amber with a fast dissolving off-white head. Lacing is average. Aroma of toffee, multi-grain bread, some roasted nuts and brown sugar. Taste is creamy, smooth, no carbonation and texture like a scotch ale. Finish is clean with hardly any aftertaste. KingpinIPA (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 7, 2007
Light brownish amber color. Smell of malt, caramel, toffee, nuts and sugar. Taste of alcohol, roasted nuts, malt, honey and spice. I like this a lot. goes down good with there excellent beer cheese soup!

On-tap @ the Brewpub.
Light brown color with orange highlights.
Aroma is mostly toffee malts and some subtle fruits as well.
In addition to the toffee/caramel flavor is a subtle fruit aspect which didn’t really do anything for me. The lack of any hop flavor is a bit disappointing, and leads to it being a bit too sweet for my taste, but the caramel malts are still tasty. Not one of the best beers from this brewpub. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2006
(Tap) Pours amber with little head. Roasted nut and toffee notes. Slightly fruity aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel and slightly dry finish. One of my favorites from Moosejaw. jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 12, 2006
Walnut color with a thin head. Taste of chesnuts and some malty sweetness. Has a rotten wood flavor that I don’t like and have tasted in several of this style elsewhere. Least favorite of 6 I tried. Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUL 25, 2005
Tap: transparent amber with decent head. Decent bready caramel aroma. Flavor has lots of caramel, nuts and some peach. Decent amber. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JUL 24, 2005
Beautiful amber color. No visible carbonation as is the case with most of Moosejaw’s beers. Ring of off-white head. Roasted malt flavor with some caramel notes. Very soft. Too soft. No bite. Easy drinking. More alcohol and a hoppier bite would help.
