Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/11/12.
Very dark mahogony brown with a thin bubbly tan head that retains well. Good lacing ensues.
Nose comprises roast malts, pinch of tobacco, molasses, dark fruits.
Tastes follows, very subtle dose of coffee evident in the taste, but couldn’t really detect this on the nose.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 20, 2011
Cask. Reddish brown colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is bready and sweet malty with some slight roasted notes as well. Also some slight coffee and ashes as it warms up a bit. Flavour is sweet malts, some roasted notes with mild coffee and chocolate. Ashes and slgiht vanilla also their. Finishes in a quite black cold coffeeish sourish bitterness. Balanced and quite a nice Porter! maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 18, 2011
Cask conditioned Handpump Scarborough Leeds. A black beer with a whitish head and lacing. Good coffee in the nose which follows through to the mouth where the flavours are sadly too thin. There’s a hint of veg too but otherwise OK. EdKing (2586) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2011
Cask in The Dog & Duck. Clear very dark brown, reddish at edges. Nose is ale fruity, caramel and then the coffee coming through. Taste is lactic, coffee, undercurrent of ale flavours. A light ale-ish porter but with a nice coffee hit and great colour.
