Zlotta (4485) - Hagen, GERMANY - APR 3, 2018
0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before December 2018. Just a little hazy, dark amber with a thin, fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, moderately fruity and slightly resiny aroma of orange jam, tea leaves, some mango and a touch of pine. Moderately sweet, minimally bitter, moderately fruity and a bit resiny taste of orange jam, tea leaves, mango and some pine, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly resiny and a bit herbal finish with a touch of alcohol. Thin to medium body, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite okay but far from outstanding, reminds me of Kees' NEIPA.

On tap in ‘Cause Beer Loves Food. Bright deep golden colour, thin white bubbles. It is advertised to be a NEIPA with calamansi; interesting. Fortunately doesn’t look like crap, so a good start there. A light malt base, gently juicy hop, not overly bitter, and a good hit of the calamansi adds a pleasant fruity note to the whole thing. There is just a small hint of hot alcohol at the end - I guess it is getting on 7%, didn’t taste it otherwise. But would be lovely on a summer’s day, very pleasant and different.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Nicely fruity aroma with citrus, orange, ripe tropical fruits, notes of peach and apricot, and some mild dankness. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter with a touch of tartness. Body is medium. Nice and juicy with an unexpected element of tart ripe fruitiness.

Tap at ‘Cause Beer Loves Food. Crystal clear darker golden with off white head. Caramel, grapefruit peel, orange, kumquats, light grassy and herbal, soft tart berries. Over medium bitter, medium sweet and light sour. Medium bodied. A bit weird but not bad.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 21 Feb 2018) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, resin, pineapple and apricots. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, lemon peel, resin, pineapple and a balanced bitterness with leafy hops. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. A bit sharp and short, but fresh and tasty. Quite nice.

Tap @ Arendsnest, Amsterdam II 2018.
