Tasted on tap at the St Louis Brewers’ Guild Halloween Fest in a commemorative stange glass. It poured an opaque dark brown colour with beige foam, lasting with lace. It started-out seeming like a true-to-style schwarzbier (German black lager) but a massive diacetyl infection ruined both the aroma and flavour. Too bad, maybe they just rushed it to the fest without proper conditioning time? pkbites (950) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 26, 2015
Midnight black pour. Aroma of light toffee, cola, nuts, coffee, and chocolate. None of them more than the rest. This wasn’t what I expected. I was thinking a heavy brew with overpowering coffee and hops. The flavor is lighter and very balanced. Probably one of the best dark beers around. Can @ Hammerstones, ST. Louis. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - NOV 22, 2014
Draft at the brewery during RBSG. From notes. Coffee and chocolate dominate, hints of resinous hops linger. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - AUG 5, 2014
Can; poured a dark brown/black color with a light brown frothy head. Aroma fairly sweet, fruity, earthy and touch of must. Flavor had less sweetness, which was good. Fairly pleasant flavor; touch of sweetness, fruit, and must, with maybe hint of roasted. decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUL 14, 2014

Taster on tap at the brewpub during RBSG. Clear brown color. Off-white head. Decent loose thicker lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly chewy. Toasty, light chocolate. Some earthy herbal flavors. Moderate sweet taste, pretty dry finish, light bitter. OK schwarzbier. Quickly wears on me. jtclockwork (16685) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 25, 2014

Draught at the brewery.
Pours a deep brownish amber with a decent head and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is roasty and chocolaty. It’s rich, nutty, & clean.
The flavor is nicely roasty & bitter with some floral hoppiness. Rich, clean, and enjoyable.
I pretty well liked this one, sheesh!
