On tap at FoBAB 2013 (Chicago, IL). Pours a deep brownish hue, gentle copper orange edges on the edges and bottom. Nice darker middle, frothy tannish head atop stays and laces ok. Aromas are cocoa and carmelized, firm toasty element, nice oak and mellow tartness. Initial is more tart, lactic and lemony is decent, touches of straw, cherry, mellow toast. A bit warm and oaky as we hit the middle. Mellow brettt, a bit underdeveloped, the tartness and sour element, a bit dry and tannic picks up some life. Odd. Sampled at UCBC Wolpertinger 2013 - Pour mahogany with a beige head. The aroma has cherry, vanilla, oak, dark malt, caramel and licorice. It has a medium / full slick body with a light amount of carbonation. The taste is woody and grainy with vanilla, toasted malt, light cherry and sourness. Sample at the Urban Chestnut Wolpertinger. I had the regular Lactovision last weekend at the brewpub. This beer had oak and that was definitely tasted. It added richness and smoothness that only oak can. It made a really good beer even better. All of the cherry and sourness, etc. with oak is a real winner.
