Draft at the source. Cloudy amber brown color. Aroma is nutty and toasty. Taste has sharp spices. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 18, 2011
Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, nuts and a faintly hoppy finish. The taste is very tart with notes of berries, citrus and nutty notes. Medium bodied. Seems like something might be wrong with this one. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, cookie, chocolate, toasted), light hops (earthy), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of honey. Draft… Clear, deep, dark copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The restrained bouquet is quite nutty without much else going on. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with soft carbonation. The roasty flavor leans a smidge toward the bitter side, but is smooth and well-balanced overall. A bit nutty and a touch thin. Finishes crisp and very mildly bitter. A little too crisp and refreshing for the style. Personally, I like a little meat on my brown ale’s bones.

Taster on tap at the brewery. Clear dark red color. Thin khaki head, leaves good thicker lace. Great chocolate, nutty aroma up front. Medium-plus body, big and full for the ABV. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice flavor again, like hazelnut or marzipan or something. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Tasty brown ale! douglas88 (9572) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 2, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear light brown color with a medium white head. A light nutty and sweet brown malt nose. The flavor is smooth, clean, light coffee, nutty toasted malts. Good. FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 27, 2014 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a dark nut brown color with orange highlights and a large foamy beige head that left very good lacing. The aroma was semi sweet and nutty with hints of wood, cherry, cola and fruity hops. The flavor was tangy and semi sweet with notes of honey, toffee, wood, caramel and fruity hops. Long finish. Medium body. This beer has gotten much better from when I first rated it. chriso (7586) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 23, 2010
On tap at Morgantown Brewing Company on 10 March 2010. Attractive clear chestnut colour with a red tinge. Quite smoky aroma. Some nutty notes. Slight odd medicinal TCP notes in the flavour. Otherwise OK.

On tap into a shot glass. Appearance is a dark, translucent brown with a beige head. Aroma is malts and coffee. Taste follows suit. Coffee comes throughout magnificently. This is my favorite of the sampler I got while at the brewery. I would say this is their best by a good bit.
