bartlebier (4123) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - DEC 12, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2014 50cl fliptop courtesy of central NRW supplier McTapps, danke! Doesn’t wholly betray its well-rounded, spot on "amber" taste in its powdery, sweetish aroma: caramel toffee meets well-designed DE hop grassiness, without becoming too sweet. Ends on a confident hoppy note, recalling Fiege’s prime pils, framed on a palate coated in Werther’s Echte. Smooth and like an aspirational Disney film, this beer achieves what it sets out to be.

500ml bottle [Thanx Chris!]. Clear, pale amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Mild caramel malty aroma with a touch of toffee, butterscotch. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, a touch of toffee and butterscotch, plain bitter hoppy overtones; soft, creamy palate. Nice subtleties in the malt flavours, well balanced sweetness, sadly a bit anaemic.

The difference of a Bernstein and an normal Fiege Pils is the suffy taste and the frohlocktheit of the gaumen. If you hate the normal Fiege: This is a beer for you.

Poured from a 33cl flip top bottle. Pours a clear. light amber color with an off-white head. the smell is toasted malt, mild caramel, bread. the taste is bread, caramel, toasted malt ending with a bit of fruit and crispness. The body is light+ with nice tight, crisp carbonation.

WillemsUrenkel (2020) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - MAY 2, 2014
0,5 l bottle. A mid amber in the glass, big white head, low carbonated. A little bit sourish on the nose. Low sourish roasted malt, light hop herb, cookies. Interesting for that kind of beer.
