50 cl bottle in a mixed pack from LCBO served cold in a tulip glass. Clear cooper with a full, orange-tan head. Fruity and vinous, some toffee and treacle, dark dried fruits, a little woody, brown sugar, decent. Medium+ body with moderate carbonation. Quite fruity, lightly boozy, brown sugar, a bit of dark rum character, dark dried fruits, a little wood, alright; off-dry with moderate-low bitterness and a long, brown sugar and treacle, fruity finish. Alright.

Appearance: Pours a dark, amber color with a frothy, long-lasting head with plenty of lacing. Aroma: Raisins, spicy hops and cereal grains with a woody aroma. Taste: Initial taste is brandy-like with dark fruits, oak and a subtle taste of liquorice while on the palate. Aftertaste is a perfect blend of sweet, dark fruit flavors and a dry bitter. Mouth-feel is medium with almost no detectable carbonation. A smooth and buttery swallow. This is a difficult-to-find brew that Ive been hunting for 3 or 4 years. I am happy to report that it has been well worth the hunt and the wait. This one just might make it into my top-10 list!

500 ml bottle from the lcbo. Brown with a tan head. Nicely layered with dark fruit and well hopped. A little light on flavour for a 6.5% beer. Nice ESA but not the best.

Bottle from Rhythm & Booze, Ripon. Amber ale with white head. Quite bitter with lots of malt flavour and a touch of caramel. Alcohol quite evident. I was looking forwards to this one as Ima big fan of the style, but this effort was pretty disappointing really. Lacking any real complexity.

Old Crafty Hen has a very thin, off-white head, and a mostly clear, deep, brilliant, amber appearance with some bubble streams and lacing. The aroma is of of rich, sweet caramel and toffee, bread crust and maybe some raisin. Taste is of those elements, with some mellow, but distinguished bitterness at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Old Crafty Hen finishes wet, sweet, rich, and delicious. Overall, a most excellent beer! RJT

500ml Bottle. This came highly thought of but from someone who likes a lot darker beers than I do. TBH I had put it off but finally got round to it.. It pours a ruby brown body with a moderate dark cream head with a good amount of medium lacing. It smells of malts and caramel with a slight hint of hops. It tastes largely of burnt caramel with a raisin mid taste moving to a bitter finish. Yep - not to my tastes but I can imagine many will like it.

Lhev 500 ml. Aroma dubov, čokolda a lehce karamel.

Appearance: Clear ruby/amber with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Raisin, dried fig, orange marmalade, syrup, grassy, fruity and pepper. Taste: Medium sweetness, bitterness and sourness. Palate: Thin smooth texture and light/medium body, prickly/average carbonation and astringent lingering finish of fruity and malt flavours. The taste is initially sweet, it then has a slight tartness before developing into bitterness. Comments: Tasty and enjoyable.
