500ml bottle from supermarket. A very rich and dark brown beer. It’s a touch sweet, but with a good maltiness and a bitter finish. downender (9008) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2014
From Sainsburys. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Aroma of barley sugar, oak and a touch of marmalade. Flavour was a bit skunky to start, with some stale malts and sweet fruit, before being redeemed by some deep orange, berry fruits and a warming alcohol finish. A mixed bag, but pretty good overall. Part of the Morland Variety 4-pack at the LCBO for Christmas 2013. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy-bubbly, light-beige head with decent retention and lots of soapy lace. Aromas of toffee, mild raisin, nuts and some grassy hops which starts off sharper, but gets milder. Refreshing, but with some bitterness, but not too crazy. All balanced with the caramel, raisin and some light alcohol. Seems like the Old Speckled Hen, but smoother and with some fruitiness to it. No vanilla though. Still, nice and smooth. mdindy (38) - Weymouth, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 22, 2014
color is deep clear amber with decent yellow tinted head initially but dissipates fast. aroma is sweet with some alcohol and malts.
distinctive carmal flavours with some deep malty tone and hint of alcohol in aftertaste. almost feels like a cognac, very smooth. highly recomended, would be good with a cigar.
