Philym (1003) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2013
Appearance: Clear ruby/amber with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Raisin, dried fig, orange marmalade, syrup, grassy, fruity and pepper. Taste: Medium sweetness, bitterness and sourness. Palate: Thin smooth texture and light/medium body, prickly/average carbonation and astringent lingering finish of fruity and malt flavours. The taste is initially sweet, it then has a slight tartness before developing into bitterness. Comments: Tasty and enjoyable.

50 cl bottle. Pours a translucent amber with a fizzy beige head of foam. The aroma is malt, some musty notes, candy, and grassy skunky notes. Taste is sweet and musty. Dries out in the finish.

Initial aroma is caramel, but also some hop. Aroma smooths out into even more malt with time and warming. Appearance is a very deep red-amber, with some initial head although not much lasted. Taste is very good on the first sip, with a full maltiness that dominates, although there is a little brightness at the top of the taste and feels a bit drier than I would have expected. Taste is a little bitter, fairly malty and not the sweetness reported by others. Overall, pretty good beer.

A very rich and dark malty brew; yet this beer doesn’t ever get too sweet or cloying. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Toffee and heavy roasts predominate throughout. I’m not a huge super-malt beer fan, but this one wasn’t bad at all. Enjoyable.

yiannnos (1254) - , CYPRUS - SEP 20, 2013
Amber colour, medium carbonation. Malty caramel nose. Sweet, toffee, malty taste.

15.08.2013. 0,5l Bottle. Thanks to Sverre Brekne!!! Amber brown colour with tan head. Sweet aroma of dark roasted malts. Very soft sweet with good flavours of dark malts. Rich and rather firm body. Medium bitterness.

Pdubyah (732) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 20, 2013
Meh. Average. Sour on the top note and not a lot after the overly banging caramel in your face front that this has. I want to burn my passport rather than recommend this.

Borup (14461) - Albertslund, DENMARK - SEP 15, 2013
Sample at DØE 2013. Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, oak, hops and fruit.

Bottle. Not bad but nothing special. Pleasant hoppy taste, long dry palate, nice color and head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I still can’t quite decide if I like this. It’s super malty, with a lot of caramel, bread, alcohol. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Better than the old speckled hen, to be sure, but I have a feeling this would taste a lot better in an English pub.
