Pint bottle from Woodman’s. Deep ruby red color with a small, firm beige head. Aroma is creamy, roasted malt with a spicy sweet note. Flavor is roasted malt and medicinal hops. A hint of semi-sweet chocolate sweetens it up at the end. Crisp, long lasting bitter finish but still smooth on the palate. A definite winner.

Smashing strong ale. Has a similar strong taste as Innis and Gunn but a little more malty and less whisky notes. Nice dark ale.

ianwelby (1525) - SCOTLAND - OCT 24, 2017
Clear amber, thin bubbly head. Fruity, alcoholic aroma with a touch of caramel. Taste has caramel, dried fruit, rich malt. It's quite smooth despite it tasting as strong as it is. Decent.

Erzengel (9504) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - OCT 10, 2017
The beer starts mild and smooth. Easy to drink with hints of dry raisins and caramel. Smooth mild, malty with a nice bitter-sweetish rich finish.

Bottle. Dark amber with a thick yellow cream head. Nose heavy toffee and caramel. Slight meringue. A slight alcohol hit in the mouth, but then more toffee and caramel. Mellows out after a few sips. Some slight oakiness. Some warmth. A little licorice and raisin. Tasty.

loscovar (723) - Trieste, ITALY, Villeneuvette, FRANCE - AUG 28, 2017
Bottle in Edinburgh, Scotland. Nice bitter amber ale, drinkable and good, some kind of vintage aftertaste

Bijl (811) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 19, 2017
Donker ambergeel, donker crèmekleurige schuimkraag, weinig koolzuur. Aroma: Moutig, Karamel, iets toffee, zoetig en fruitig, UK hops... spicy, aarde/mossig. Smaak: Zoet in begin, karamel en toffee. Daarna een spicy scherpe bitter, hint van dry oak, alle smaken zijn net even intenser al de "Old Speckled Hen".

500 ml clear bottle, from Tesco Express, Belfast. ABV is 6.5%. Beautiful brownish-red colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of lightstruck hops, oak, toffee and caramel. Medium sweet flavour of malts, caramel and oak. Too modest hops. No masterpiece.

luttonm (6763) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 16, 2017
Bottle in London. Dark brown amber color, clear. White head. Odd aroma, dark and woody malt. Very copperish, metallic. Some banana and cardboard. Tobacco and astringent alcohol. Meh. It’s unusual.
