Old Golden Hen captures a celestial ray of sunshine in the form of a rare and very special Tasmanian hop called Galaxy. The result is a triumph for its sheer powers of refreshment. Malty sweetness, a hint of tropical fruit and a clean finish: out of this world.

Aroma: Tropical notes of grapefruit & mango.
Taste: Tropical fruits & malt sweetness with a crisp finish.

500ml Bottle: Pours a crystal clear golden with thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, biscuit and a slight resinous hop note. Slightly toasty flavours with nice malt profile. Finishes dry, medium bitterness with lively carbonation. Easy drinking, well balanced ale. Very nice!

Pure white creamy head left a cover on a very active, opaque, golden body. Malty, bitter aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the palate, sharp on the back - very sticky & cloying. Bitter tastes with caramel, malt and a burnt aftertaste.

A pretty good mouthfeel from a sweet maltyness to the beer. There were some hops on the nose and overall very drinakable. A surprising amout of flavour for the low ABV

Can sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks troubles. Golden with a white head. Aroma of grains, malt, light minerals note, dusty note, honey note, and floral hops. Mildly sweetish flavor, malty, grainy, with a bit of honey, dusty hint, bitterish finish. Rather light-bodied.

From a bottle. Not as bad as I’d expected, light and fruity and very drinkable.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/9/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, orange zest, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, orange zest, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange peel/rind, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is an excellent English bitter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful for the low ABV; and extremely well balanced between hops, yeast, and malt flavors. A very enjoyable offering.

23/10/16 bottle at home. I shouldn't like this but I kinda do. Mass-produced golden ale. Can't even get the malt level right. But goes down a treat when thirsty ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355mL bottle into a shaker glass. Super clean gold body, white head that didn’t last, but did lace. Malty nose but not much else. Did I read that there were Galaxy hops (can’t smell ’em) and they were "rare"? (not in this neck of the woods they aren’t!). Body is medium to light. Malty honey on the palate, mild dry bitterness to finish. Not what I expected from the label, but as a mid strength beer - it is drinkable.
