Old Golden Hen captures a celestial ray of sunshine in the form of a rare and very special Tasmanian hop called Galaxy. The result is a triumph for its sheer powers of refreshment. Malty sweetness, a hint of tropical fruit and a clean finish: out of this world.

Aroma: Tropical notes of grapefruit & mango.
Taste: Tropical fruits & malt sweetness with a crisp finish.

Thanks Hrabren & Anja! Poured a nice clear darker golden body with a white head, small but relatively lasting, quite carbonated. Cereal aroma, with vague fruity hoppy touches. Mild, watery, soft taste, vague fruity touches from Galaxy on a dull grainy malty body, ending limp, flat and boring. A waste of good hops. Just trace herbal bitterness in the finish. No, actually, a waste of good hops and malts. Potentially water too. Unsure about yeast. This barely functions due to the ingredients themselves, but it’s shoddy, lifeless and soulless. Hoppy golden ale brought back to life as a zombie.

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear golden pour with one finger white head, relatively short lasting. Subtle but pleasant on the nose. Slightly hoppy and herbal with a peppery touch. Thin to medium body. A bit heavy on the carbonation, very prickly. Otherwise, regular texture. Pretty dry mouthfeel, moderately bitter taste. Notes of pine and citrus, earthy hops. A bit grassy. Malty caramel in the background. Somewhat strange aftertaste, reminds me of tobacco. A bit ashy. Lots of herbal notes. Finish is medium lasting and quite dry. Overall, not bad. Would prefer stronger hop character, but otherwise it’s good.

Ok beer. No presence of the Galaxy hop just very faint. A tad too sweet to be enjoyed

Goldene Farbe, mittlere stabile Schaumkrone. Fruchtig frischer Trunk. Grapefruit. Gut rezent.

500ml Bottle: Pours a crystal clear golden with thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, biscuit and a slight resinous hop note. Slightly toasty flavours with nice malt profile. Finishes dry, medium bitterness with lively carbonation. Easy drinking, well balanced ale. Very nice!
