Old Golden Hen captures a celestial ray of sunshine in the form of a rare and very special Tasmanian hop called Galaxy. The result is a triumph for its sheer powers of refreshment. Malty sweetness, a hint of tropical fruit and a clean finish: out of this world.

Aroma: Tropical notes of grapefruit & mango.
Taste: Tropical fruits & malt sweetness with a crisp finish.

Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt and floral hops. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

500ml bottle from Morrisons, Partick. Pours clear pale gold with a short-lived white head. Aromas are light bread, honey sweet, very light citrus. Taste is sweet too. Very little of the galaxy hop in evidence. Thin texture, finishes sweet. Not great.

Has a fine pale character in a clear golden ale. Lots of tropical aroma and taste to match.

Bottle. Golden with a thin foam. Aromas are grain, butter and light caramel with lemon. Grapefruit and apricot with a marmalade character. Flavours are bittersweet lemon marmalade with grapefruit juice and peppery notes. Base grain with grassy, spritzy notes. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

500 ml bottle. Big burst of skunk when opened, though balanced a bit with caramel malt and citrus, grass hop. Clear amber, low bubbly head. Nicely fruity andnhoppy, with light caramel and good bready malts. No skunk here. Decent, but they must lose the clear bottles.

12oz bottle. Clear golden / orange color. Good thin off-white head, leaves decent lace. Impressive hoppy aroma - lemongrass, some citrus, light floral. Good light caramel malt, some honey, little toastiness. Good mix of bitter and sweetness in the finish. Light body, smooth light carbonation, very drinkable. More dry texture. This is a very tasty light ale - especially now since it just hit the shelves. This probably wouldn’t age well, especially with these clear glass bottles

500ml bottle courtesy of Tesco. I've been enjoying this beer for a while but only now have I got round to writing a review. It has a lovely golden appearance as its name suggests, with no real head and little lacing. This is a beautifully refreshing summer ale, packed full of flavour. Its very smooth and not overly hopped, but there's that hint of hoppy bitterness in the palate and the aftertaste that goes well with the grassy honey fruity flavours of this beer. Don't be tempted to over-cool it and destroy those lovely flavours. Leave it to warm for a short while after taking it from the fridge. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed and it's excellent value for money. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale golden pour with a thin white head. The nose is softly spicy and refreshing. A little bit of citrus and some nice clean malt. A touch of spicy hoppiness and a little bit of lingering fruit. A pretty simple, refreshing brew.
