Old Golden Hen captures a celestial ray of sunshine in the form of a rare and very special Tasmanian hop called Galaxy. The result is a triumph for its sheer powers of refreshment. Malty sweetness, a hint of tropical fruit and a clean finish: out of this world.

Aroma: Tropical notes of grapefruit & mango.
Taste: Tropical fruits & malt sweetness with a crisp finish.

Drink this excellent beer almost in room temperature if it’s cold the fine aroma doesn’t come up ! The first sip is fruity but the end taste is so fine malty and hop.

Aroma: Malt: Medium, toffee, Hops: Medium, fresh cut vines, passion fruit, naartjie, vanilla. No DMS. No Diecetyl. Appearance: Gold, light copper, clear body. Small off-white head. Good retention. Flavour: Malt: Medium-light bread. Hops: fruity. Medium to Medium-high vanilla, oak on initial taste. Casked, wooden, Dry finish. Almost whisky like flavours. Honey. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness. Balance towards malt in taste, but a bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium body, Medium carbonation. Dry finish. Overall: Quite a surprise. Very complex malt flavours. It tastes like a wood aged bitter. Exquisite. 500ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 8A. Standard/Ordinary Bitter

A fantastically citrusy ale with lots of floral notes, which is so refreshing and easy to drink. This is my favourite sunny day beer, a really tasty golden ale.

Drank from a pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Nice golden color, packed with malty flavors, but super smooth....Probably my favorite golden ale too date!

500ml Bottle: Pours a crystal clear golden with thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, biscuit and a slight resinous hop note. Slightly toasty flavours with nice malt profile. Finishes dry, medium bitterness with lively carbonation. Easy drinking, well balanced ale. Very nice!

Gorgeous orange pour with a thin white head. Aroma is soft citrus. A bit if peach. Galaxy hop has a nice note. Although there's no excuse for using clear bottles anymore. This one was slightly skunked. Good though.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/9/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, orange zest, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, orange zest, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange peel/rind, pear, pineapple, mango, apricot, honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is an excellent English bitter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful for the low ABV; and extremely well balanced between hops, yeast, and malt flavors. A very enjoyable offering.

This is a really lovely beer even from a can, golden colour not such a good head but great body. Lightly carbonated with a strong hoppy flavour but not too bitter, refreshing finish ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
