Great pour, excellent finish, and 5.2%... I wouldn’t recommend drinking 8 or 10 of them but this is a very good sipping beer.

Amber color, small beige head. Aromas of malt, caramel and slight hops. Bittersweet taste with caramel, nuts and slight hops. Medium bitter finish.

2015 BJCP Category: 11C Strong Bitter

AROMA: Fairly sweet malty nose with caramel/toffee notes. Typical British yeast esters create for light fruity character. Low earthy/floral hops. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Deep copper hue, slightly magenta. (17-25 SRM). Mostly clear body. Large white froth due to the nitro widget. 3/3

FLAVOR: Fairly mild palette overall; notes of toffee/caramel are present, but subdued. Slight marmalade toasty flavor as it finishes. Minor earthy hop flavor and bitterness. Minor fruity yeast esters. Palette is pretty well balanced. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; low carbonation though extremely smooth due to nitrogen widget. Malty aftertaste. Good afternoon beer at only 5%. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: British pub-style beer for sure, mostly to-spec; though far from amazing. 7/10

TOTAL SCORE: 36/50

Bottle from Merchants. Thought it was for the book, but I am mistaken. Aroma is caramel, bitter earthy hops, toffee, nutty, nice. Appearance is amber, light brown head, clear. Taste is bitter earthy hops, caramel, fruity, some yeast, dry, toasty, delightful. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, bitter earthy hop and caramel aftertaste. Overall, I am told to have this at the source because it’s a different beer, but I find this version to be quite enjoyable. 7 4 8 4 15

Had this from a bottle. When I poured part of it there was not much of a head on it, it had a reasonable bit of carbonation. The Colour is light/orangey brown. The smell is caramel, may be a bit of brown sugar. Quite a sweet initial taste to it, a bit of a tangy taste sits on the tongue after the gulp of beer, the malts really come through in the after taste. Pretty solid beer to be fair, from what I remember it is nice from the can as well (and on cask).
