Tap at Red Hill. Black with a crema-coloured head. Aroma of salted caramel, licorice, molasses, flowers - very agreeable but not all that hoppy. Silky texture. Milky toffee sweetness, licorice, spicy chocolate. Firm bitterness struggles a bit to emerge from the sweetness. Interesting and nice but lacks hoppy brightness. halfbaked (48) - - DEC 29, 2012
Aroma of molasses. Well balanced flavour with bitterness at the end from the dry hopping. Nice creamy mouthfeel from the rye, don’t get any smokiness. I could drink more of this. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - DEC 25, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 On tap at BeerDeLuxe and the Alehouse Project. Great balance. Aromas of caramel, grain, coffee, and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Black, with a frothy head.
