3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is wooden, cereals, some mild madeira notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, toffee and sweet maltyness. Pleasantly aged as for the flavour, but aroma wasn’t that top anymore after all these years. Quite mouthdrying palate.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
275ml bottle from Shropshire. Vintage 1981. Brewed in the original Morrell’s Oxford Brewery. Slight hiss on opening. A pale, unclear amber. Quite sweet and toffeeish. Some marmite. Hints of cardboard. Creamy, light carbonation. This is a decent ale which has some Belgian, Bier de Garde and Saison qualities about it, in addition to English Strong Ale. A pale ale of decent strength and character. Nice one.
