Cask at Hail to the Ale, Wolverhampton.
Jet black stout with a good tan to beige head.
Smokey Chocolate and cocoa stout, roasted barley and malt, Only brewed in the winter which is a shame as this is a damn good stout. TickerTerryDJ (647) - Redditch, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2013

Nice roasted aroma but not overstated and similar character in its flavour. Medium bodied. Black with a small creamy head. BlackHaddock (8128) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2012
Hand pulled pint in The Cock Hotel, Wellington on 2nd Feb 2012.
Really black body, jet black with no hint of redness or ruby hints: this is black. The thin tan coloured head lasted the whole pint.
The nose was of roasted dark chocolate on a bed of peat with a scattering of berrys thrown into the oven as well.
The taste follows the smells only with a drier feel, this is a fairly bitter tasting Stout actually, for roasted think almost burnt chocolate malts and you are there.
The body wasn’t as heavy as the flavours suggest maybe, but it suited the feel correctly: a nice Stout.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, 19th April 2008, with Chris, Ian, Mes & the gang. Pure black with a little tan foam which leaves lacing. Strong aroma of blackcurrant and roast malt. Fruity on the tongue but with a great dry bitterness. The short finish is the only slight let down. A great stout.

Cask (handpump) at the Wenlock Arms, April 2008. A new brewery for me. According to the brewery website this is a November to February seasonal but they have presumably made this one a bit later. Very dark - almost black. Nice smooth malty aroma. Quite dry on the palate. Heavily roasted. Lots of chocolate. Really appealing roasty bitterness on the finish. A very impressive first encounter.

Black as they come with no light penetration what so ever. Very thin tan head but good condition. Massive blackcurrant aroma with a sweet chocolate malt backing. Flavoour of roasty dark chocolate malt, good bitter coffee, a bit of rubber and a sweet yet dry finish. Very good.
