A: This pours a dark brown/cola color with minimal off-white head. S: Lots of prune aromas with a sort of yeasty smell. Quite a bit of bread, mostly rye, with some caramel, sugar, and cola. Very strange... T: The flavor has a light sourness to it. The rye and toasted bread flavors are there, as are the sweeter prune, plum, sugar, and cola flavors. M: Medium in body with low carbonation. O: Not my favorite thing, but decent.

500ml can. It pours a dark cola brown with a nice tan head that actually sticks, unlike the other kvass i had, it quickly recedes however and leaves no lacing. Smell is of rye and raisin, there is a hint of almost pickle to it. The flavor is watery and not very good. Tehre is a hint of rye bread, some rotten honey, and a touch of raisin. I don’t really see what the appeal is here, a very watery Kvass. Serving type: can Reviewed on: 01-26-2011 00:27:30

Can,thanks to Mora2000, cloudy amber color with tan foam, aroma is sweet caramel, corn syrup, flavors of raisin or dates with some caramel, much better than an NA beer

(16oz can thanks to Mora2000) clear rich medium deep brown with lasting ring of white bubbles. Nose of molasses, honey, maple syrup, cracker, and waffles. Taste of honey, brown sugar, agave nectar, nice! Smooth finish that is slightly watery. Given the rich smell I expected this to be thicker. Despite what my comrades (har har, get it? :P) say about this beer, I thought it was definitely better than they did!

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2010 Thanks to krillionaire for sending me this 16 ounce can. This is my first kvass and was better than expected. The beer pours a hazy red-brown color with a tan head. The aroma is bready malt with some honey. The flavor is heavy on the honey with some raisins and toffee notes. The beer is fairly sweet overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

The kind gentleman at the European grocery explained to me that this was not beer, but rather a drink that was like a mix between beer and pop called Kvass. That only made me want to buy it more. This Kvass looks gorgeous it’s a deep ruby color with a big tan well retained head that leaves good lace. The aroma has tart cherry, wood & soy sauce right up front. This seems to get woodier and woodier smelling with distinct tart notes, and the soy sauce subsides for the most part. The flavor has that wort like unfermented malt that I suppose I expected. The kvass has a distinct almost herbal like bitterness on the sides of your tongue that lingers along with a woodiness in the finish. It is nicely tart and mildly roasty. As sweet as this is, I can’t help but remember the Bourbon County Stout I drank last evening.... this seems only marginally sweeter with some of the same malt character really. Ahhh Kvass on a saturday afternoon. This is thoroughly enjoyable.
