COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steeped in a long history dating back hundreds of years, this "old-fashioned" beer is again in vogue. Lager is the German word meaning "to store," so this beer ages three times longer than our ales do. "Dunkel" means dark in German, but don’t let the color fool you, it is by no means heavy, overbearing, or bitter. In fact, it proves to be a very drinkable session beer.

A: the pour is dark brown in color with a finger of off-white head. S: Starts off with a mild aroma of roasted malts. This is followed by hints of chocolate and a light coffee note. There are some hints of dark fruits, specifically raisins, along with a mild toffee sweetness and some toasted bread. T: Coffee grounds and roasted malts are the first flavors I pick up. Those are followed by toffee and toasted bread, which provide a nice, subtle sweetness. There is jus a light bitterness and earthy hop flavor. M: Medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation. O: You don’t often see a Dunkel as part of a US brewery’s regular line-up, let alone a well done one. Solid beer.
