Awesome porter I really dig it. Slight malt with high hop aroma, great lacing and formidable light brown head. zizzybalubba (1882) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - DEC 17, 2010
12 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City. Dark brown cola-like pour with a creamy khaki head. Nice chocolatey roasted malt aroma with hints of smoke and very light floral hops. Really nice, robust flavor of coffee and chocolate with very light hops on the finish. Well balanced, smooth, and sessionable at 5.5%. A very nicely done porter. SSSteve (4006) - - NOV 3, 2012
bottle. almost opaque dark brown with a medium, creamy,beige head. toasty, milk chocolate aroma with no bitterness or hops. a medium bodied porter with a creamy mouthfeel from flaked oats. moderately sweet with hardy any unfitting bitter hops and a bit of caramel. real nice and easy drinking porter. solid. a nice go-to, sessionable, everyday porter appropriate for all occasions.
--> echt lecker!

Bottle thanks to a trading partner. Pours a near clear deep brown with a light brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma is quite rich with dark chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of a backing dark bread note. Flavor begins with rich roasted malts and is joined by a rich a chocolate note. A nice beer.

12oz received as an extra in a recent trade with McNuts. Thanks again Keith!
Pours a deep dark chestnut brown color that appears black and completely opaque in the glass with only faint mahogany edges when held to a light. One and a half finger frothy beige head that slowly settles int a thin lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind.
Toasted dark malt aroma with a good balance of sweet and roast. Slight lactic creaminess with hints of toast, oatmeal(of course) and toffee as well as a prominent chocolate/cocoa presence. Slightly smokey with a good amount of roast in the nose without smelling burnt or acrid.
Chewy full with a good balance of roasted malt, sweetness and creamy body. A bit more bitter and roasted than the aroma suggests but still not one dimensional or overpowering. Hints of oatmeal, earthy hops, burnt toast, coffee bean and bittersweet dark chocolate. This is countered by the smooth lactic cream which adds complexity and fullness to the body. In addition, there’s some sweet chocolate, hazelnut and toffee toward the end of the swallow. This is a very solid interpretation of the style.

Opaque caramel brown. Roasted nut, caramel and coffee aromas. Full bodied, nutty and caramel flavors. Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - OCT 25, 2012
Had this one on-tap at City Bev in town. The pour created a massive tan head on top that lingered for most of the session. The frothy cap produced aromas of roasted malt, chocolate powder, and a slightly chicory fade on the finish. Nice toasty nose. The mouth on this one is a bit thin and lacking in carbonation. A little too slick for me, but that could be the fault of the tap, not the beer itself.
The flavors are as good as anticipated. Big roasty notes that aren’t charring or unpleasant in any way. Mild chocolate flavors add a touch of sweetness that prevents this beer from becoming too woodsy and burnt. Good balance of flavors going on. There is a slight metallic finish, but it fleets away quickly. This was good, but I’d love to revisit this is in bottle form to see how the mouth is remedied, if at all. This keeps reminding me why ME is one of my fave NC breweries. Malty_MacHops (688) - Eastanollee, Georgia, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Robust coffee and malt notes. Deep brown to black with a tan head. Roast bitterness balanced by malty sweetness. Medium bodied with a robust finish. kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 27, 2013
Thanks to Erzengel for sharing! The head is ok, body black. It smells coffee, roasty, oat. The taste is roasty, coffee, intensive, coffee-bitter, aromatic, darkmalty. Good. 12/13//13/13/12/13
