Pours a very hazy (lots of particles) orange with a little head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is caramel malt with some feint citrus along with other indiscernible notes. Taste follows the nose with perhaps some grassiness mixed and a strong bitterness that lingers. Medium bodied. Definitely more malty than the West Coast IPAs which I prefer. I have no trouble drinking this one but there are way better IPAs out there.

Unfiltered. Cloudy copper color, creamy white lace. Hop, lemon, orange peel, sugar and spice aroma. Decent hop bitterness. Burnt flavor with plenty of hop.

Clear old gold, good 2-finger head, sheet of lace. Taste is caramel malt with a big dose of citrus hops. The malt is strong enough to re-emerge at the finish. Grows nicely through the palate. Solid, malty and hoppy, good drinking.

Location/Date:Bottle on August 17th, 2013.

Appearance: Pours an orange cloud
Aroma: Aroma of light pine, orange, caramel.
Taste: Light medium bitterness, hints of orange.
Palate:Light body

Summary: Decent IPA. Don’t know the age on my bottle, but does the job just not extraordinary.

Bottle. Not the most biting or cutting edge IPA flavor. There’s actually a little caramel and toastiness in the middle, but the bitter hoppy IPA comes through in the finish. I’d love to try the oaked!

nimbleprop (8376) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 2, 2013
On tap at Shaw’s Tavern DC. Pours a hazy orange with some fizzy white head. Nose is soap, grapefruit, pine, orange, some kefir lime. Flavor is bracing with bitterness, blood orange, kumquat, pine, malt, grass, nettles. Full bitter finish. Could be a little more nuanced.

Shag (3000) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - JUL 17, 2013
The appearance is a golden color with a white head. The aroma contains some citrus and herbal notes. The flavor is slightly sour with some bitter notes. There are mostly lemons present in the flavor. Overall a little one dimensional but not bad, just not great.

Malty aroma. Strong back palate bitterness that lasts through finish. Herbal undertones.

3
kathouse (1888) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JUN 4, 2013
Cloudy orange with a thin head. Orange, citrus, and caramel nose leads into a heavy dose of caramel, bread, and toasted malts. Finish is all malt with very little hop character.

Easily one of the strangest IPA’s I’ve ever encountered. Pours a huge foamy head and is golden in color with a lot of lacing. The aroma is weak and fairly uninteresting. The taste is pretty bizarre. It has a Belgium feel with some hops sprinkled in at the finsh. It leaves a strong amount of bitterness on the tongue. Not smooth and pretty poorly balanced. Ehh
