This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it’s like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

A: The pour is a hazy light yellow/straw color with just a small white head. S: Starts off with a very bright citrus and citrus peel aroma. There is a lot of wheat and some light spices, which is pretty much how I like my witbiers. It’s very fruity, which is sort of surprising. And of course, there’s a bit of yeast. T: The flavor is also very fruity, which you don’t normally expect for a witbier, but I think it’s great. Heavy on the citrus with only mild spices. Lots of wheat bread and sweet malts with a touch of yeast. M: Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. O: This was very light and refreshing and had very nice aromas and flavors. One of the best witbiers I’ve had.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Charlotte, NC. opened 4/22/11. Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with lots of carbonation. Medium sized fizzy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big citrus notes with pale wheat. The taste is citrus, mango, wheat, a crackery note. Medium bodied.

12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow color. Orange and spice are the predominate aroma. The taste is somewhat more watery than I expected. It is fairly refreshing but lacks a really distinct flavor.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Spencer. Pours a somewhat cloudy straw color with a medium white head. The aroma is coriander and light oranges. The flavor is smooth spices, peppery, some lingering citrus in the finish, quite dry which I enjoy in this brew. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a medium-sized white head. Aroma and flavor of wheat, mild banana and fruit, coriander, orange zest, a bit of pepperiness. Finish is a bit sweet. Mouthfeel and carbonation are light. Nice and summery but awfully mild.

Got a 6er of this for a fathers day gift. Pours a bright hazy gold with medium foamy white head. Minimal aroma - slight dough with lemon zest. Flavor light and sweet, pretty plain dough and sugared oranges, lite carbonation, could use more. Overall, pretty weak.

6/10/11. 12oz bottle thanks to Tim and Rachel. Clearish orange pour. Sweet, almost appley aroma with some orange and caramel. Overly sweet orange flavor with caramel and toast. Meh.

12 oz. bottle from A Southern Season, bottle date 04-26-11 Ar: Lots of grassy coriander aroma along with some orange zest just shining through. Very refreshing aroma. Ap: Pours a medium, slightly hazy straw with a small fizzy white head that dissipates immediately. No lace. T: Light sweetness up front along with some orange zest. The finish is nicely tart and quenches. P: Somewhat thin and pretty fizzy. O: I’m quite fond of this wit. I’m yet to find a Mother Earth brew I don’t enjoy.
