Shaker pint draft at the Brewery Tasting Room in Springfield, Missouri. The pour is cloudy brown with a foamy light tan head. The aroma is sweet nut malt along with cocoa and Chile pepper. The taste is the sweet nut malt and cocoa of the nose, nicely integrated with a bit of the chili pepper warmth to the finish. As the beer warms, the cocoa expresses itself as baker’s chocolate. The palate is medium to light bodied with active carbonation and a clean sweet spice pepper finish. Nicely executed. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - NOV 25, 2014
Bottle during RBSG. From notes. Coffee, dark chocolate and some slight heat from the peppers. Cool. brokensail (16609) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 5, 2014
Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Pours a clear amber color with a white head. Certainly a pepper beer. Lots of green bell pepper and chili on the nose. Hints of chocolate and caramel. Sort of watery, though. Flavor is decently spicy and heavy on the pepper character. Lots of earthy chili and some bell pepper skin. Certainly a bit vegetal in that regard. Mild chocolate and caramel sweetness. Kind of seltzery on the tongue. jtclockwork (16857) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 26, 2014
Bottle. RBSG. Pours brown white head. Nose/taste of spice, chocolate malt, pepper and cinnamon. Lighter medium body. Okay. Strykzone (7489) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 21, 2014
Sampled at RBSG. Amber and flouded. A bit of a fizzy feel. Chocolate and soft pepper flavors. The pepper grows. Ok, but I am rarely a fan of a pepper beer.

Bottle - average size foamy head, dark brown color, roasted malt aroma and flavor, mild chocolate notes, mild pepper notes that hits a little more at the end of the sip - fairly well balanced overall though

335ml bottle. Not really mole in a glass but a decent chocolate beer with some likghter pepper and spice. thegreenrooster (4485) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark malts and not much else. Flavor is about the same, dark malt with none of the peppers showing up just yet. The heat from the peppers doesn’t show itself until your almost finished with the beer. Not a great effort from a brewer that does some really cool things. franchise319 (15) - - JAN 17, 2014
Bottle pour, rich brown color with tan head.Aroma of cinnamon with very, very subtle cocoa. Taste of more cinnamon with some of the peppery heat right on the tail end and throughout the aftertaste. Not terrible, but not Mother’s best. kdm1984 (814) - Missouri, USA - JAN 16, 2014
Given all the interesting elements added to this beer, it’s surprisingly non-aromatic. I do detect some cinnamon, but not cocoa or peppers. Not much head, lacing, or appearance, either. Palate is watery. Cinnamon hits through again, but where are these cocoa nibs? Pepper doesn’t hit until the finish, either, and it’s just the heat, not the flavor. Love Mother’s, but this is disappointing. I would have thought this as a generic pumpkin ale with some heat. Nothing more.
