4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown, nearly auburn pour. Thin off white head. Incredible nose. Rich molasses, cask, fruit, caramel and a dash of alcohol heat. Really delicious barley wine. Nice sherry notes up front, brown sugar, vanilla, caramel, booze, light oak and buried fruit. Medium to full bodied. Slick. In my opinion, the most sophisticated of the Mother’s brews. Terrific.
Bomber with 2-3 years of age... substantial complexity and range with smooth transitions, solid balance of components, and solid intensity... citrus and berry juice, juicy fruit gum, date and fig, caramel, coffee, chocolate, dark wine... smooth medium body with slick, flowing texture... residuals of the previously mentioned components... much improved compared to the overly sweet fresh bottle

Bottle sampled at RBSG. From notes. Boozy with loads of caramel and dark fruits. Good barleywine. jeremyh70 (1115) - Missouri, USA - NOV 15, 2014
Pours a hazy garnet tinged dark copper with a light tan head and decent lacing. Aroma of toffee, brown sugar and some fruit. Taste is similar and sweet with toffee and brown sugar. Also toasted malt, sherry fruitiness and some booziness. Finishes with some malty sweetness. Medium body and carbonation. Not sure how old the bottle was but the flavors were smooth and well integrated. Enjoyable. vyvvy (6835) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Sampled at the RBSG14 Grand Tasting - Pours reddish / orange / borwn with an off-white head. The aroma has caramel, candy, wood and ripe berries. It has a full rich body with a low amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with sweet malt that has a syrupy aspect. The finish has caramel and richness. A big tasting barleywine. Nice.

650ml bottle. PRetty par for the course type barleywine, sweet caramel notes. phaleslu (10895) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2014
22 oz. bottle via STL trade. Pours a hazed amber color with a small off-white head. Notes of toffee, brown sugar, caramel, leaves, cookies, apples, vanilla, and toast. Some bourbon warmth, but very, very subtle. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, malty mouthfeel. Really big brown sugar and toffee character. The barley wine works very well here and benefits from the subtle barrel aging. deyholla (12583) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 29, 2014
Big thanks to Bob for this bottle! Pours a hazy amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of sweet grains and red wine with a bit of caramel underlying. Flavor has a interesting combination of dry red wine, sweet grains and toffee that seem a touch muddled.
