Posthumous review. Still sits as the best beer Ive ever drunk. Simply, I clearly remember the subtle heat from the pepperberry changing the way I thought about beer. Thanks to all involved, hopefully the recipe gets dusted off soon.

Bottle - pours brown with lacy head. Hops, toasty malt aroma. Hops aroma follows through on the taste.

This beer was always going to be good. Dark brown to black pour with a creamy, long lasting head. Good lacing. Aromas of roasted malt and pepper spices alongside grassy hop notes. Spiced malt flavours lead into classic hoppy pine and citrus flavours along with a slightly resinous mouthfeel. The pepperberry is present without dominating.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, good pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate with a crisper trailing edge. Mild minerals. Smooth and mildly creamy dark malt. Nice plummy and generic fruits. Back end is an interesting mixture of pine hops and black pepper. Finishes neutral. Very good inventive beer, unusual but in good balance.

HopRedHead (397) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 25, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black with a short 1cm khaki head which quickly faded. Roasted malts, peppery spices, licorice and a light perfume aroma. Taste is a very dry spice, peppers really come through. Roasty chocolate malt with a touch of orange zest. Medium body. Big beer to get through, best shared with a mate.

Bottle from Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a deep dark mahogany color with a frothy tan head. The aroma is spicy with fruit. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, lots of liqourice, loads of dry spice with earthy peat. A super beer and worth bringing back from KL!
