A-- Poured a clear, dark golden amber color. Short lived one finger off white head. Goes quickly to film. Much better retention on swirling. Fluffy off white head that does have some staying power before fading. Does leave sticky lacing on the sides of the glass.
S-- Galaxy hops. Passion fruit, mango, and orange. Just small sniffs of coffee bean. Quite a tropical nose. No hints of malt backbone.
T-- Coffee!! Slightly roasted coffee with hints of tropical fruit and bits of orange and grapefruit. At first any bitterness is from the coffee beans, not the hops. As it warmed up the hops did get a bit bigger.
M-- Slick and smooth and a bit earthy. Medium heavy feel and light carbonation. No gaps in this at all. Bitterness is more in the back and it is sort of a pungent grapefruit and old passion fruit feel. Finishes with pungent grapefruit and a weak watered down espresso finish. Could be a bit lighter I guess as thought a bit heavy for the ABV. Not a complaint on this at all.
O-- A for the the concept. Like how Mountain Goat has thought way outside the box with this when you read about a lot of BA IPA’s and stuff like that. Not real sure that you can do 2 in a sitting as I just think this is too heavy for what the ABV is. Says me who drinks 10 % RIS’s. Either way I liked this for the concept and what the beer is.

Mountain goat know how to make a good IPA with a twist. Hoppy on the nose with a little coffee. Taste is more Malty then Hoppy with medium bitterness and some coffee. Another good beer from mountain goat. dmui4031 (7) - - JUL 20, 2012 does not count
Damn this is a great brew. Digging everything I try from Mountain Goat! imaragingbull (579) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 11, 2012
Bottle. Pours copper gold with decent off white head and lace. Nice citrus pine and some light sweetness on the nose. Medium-light body, average carbonation, moderate-light bitterness balanced with a light malt sweetness. Only nearing the end of flavour and on the finish is the coffee slightly apparent, with a light nutty, chocolate and astringent bean character. Interesting concept, but quite safe. fonefan (52342) - VestJylland, DENMARK - APR 1, 2012
