Tap at Vine Street - hazy orange -nose is very sweet and sugary, with some notes of orange marmalade, rock candy/cane sugar -flavor is much the same - very sweet confectioners sugar, orange, moderate esters -some peppery phenols, a light starchiness -given the usual quality of their belgians, this is a huge disappointment.

draft. mostly clear golden yellow with a coarse-bubbled white head. grainy, sharp crystalline candy sugar and alcohol nose with overly fruity esters and mild dishsoap esters. heavily sweet, lightly citrus-like, boozy for it’s body, unbalanced and unpalatable. TAR (2761) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Draught snifter at Vine Street Pub: Luminous golden. Broken but sustained white cap of foam. Heavy sulfur and pencil eraser on the nose, with lesser notes of pear, baked apple, honeycomb, resin, Juicy Fruit gum, lilac, peach, melon, and a glimmer of baguette Pils. Firm and prickly carbonation. Full-bodied. Densely sweet and honey-laden with a potent alcoholic glow coupled with an incessantly sugary and beefy poundcake-tinged malt base. Notes of pear continue to exacerbate the sweetness as the flowery lilac hops struggle to poke through. A fleeting phenolic sparkle shyly exudes to lend some vivacity and pep, though it doesn’t fully compensate for the low attenuation and ceaselessly gummy sweetness. Closes borderline syrupy with clover honey, overripe pear, baked apple and a perceptible resinous cling lined with the underdeveloped luster of peach and flowers. A rather hot and underattenuated saison, with high-alpha resins doing little other than interfering with the yeasty delicacies and adding another layer of confusion. It’s always fun to try the latest Belgian-inspired offering from this brewery, though these guys have shown they can do much better than this. onceblind (9631) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 20, 2012
Hazy gold with a foamy white head. Wheaty apricot aroma with some hay an some farmhouse dry funkiness. Taste is full and dry, with big yeasty tones, some light zesty fruitiness, hay, farm dust, and light citrus. Good, but just nothing special to me.
