Tap at Vine Street - mmmm, this stuff is nice - jet black pour - dark tan had - nose of dark roast, fresh brewed coffee - rich flavor - a lot of coffee, but very little of the bitterness associated with it - some notes of chocolate and anise as well - creamy mouthfeel - very nicely balanced - roasty, semi-bitter finish, but with lingering creamy sweetness behind it - tasty! On draught at Vine Street Pub in Denver. The beer pours black with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing. Mocha aroma with notes of malt. Medium body with a pleasant roasted character and flavors of coffee, dark chocolate and hops. The finish is moderately bitter coffee with a hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall. On tap @ Southern Sun. Dark mocha colored pour with an incredible creamy latte head that left nothing but a milky coat inside the glass. Aroma of dark roasted coffee, cocoa, and honey. Similar flavor with the coffee really making itself known. Unlike some coffee beers that taste like used grinds, this is fresh and flavorful. Very thick and chewy mouthfeel. Really good. On tap at the brewpub. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is very nice, rich roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate, a touch of burnt toast. Flavor also has a great coffee character, really well balanced with the dark chocolate and slightly burnt malt notes. Finishes creamy with a lasting espresso and bitter cocoa. Medium to medium full body and a soft carbonation. Really nicely done gnoff (10336) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2012

Dark reddish brown color, tan head. Sweet, roasted scent. Roasted, malty, a bit campfire taste. Roasted aftertaste. Medium to spritzy mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.
Draft at Vines in Denver. Black with a ton of fluffy off white head. Not much on the nose. Chocolate and cocoa but light, flavor. Very good. Easy drinker. Ernest (7693) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2002
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2004 Draught. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, roasted grain, chocolate). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. One of my all-time favorites from Mtn Sun and one of the few I can drink pint after pint of and never get tired. Delicious. tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 2, 2005
Roasted malts with some toasty, biscuity character in the aroma. Opaque brown body with a low but lasting, tan head that coats the glass with lace. Some grape flavour up front with moderate roasty bitterness along with a fair honey sweetness with floral and leafy tones. Medium light body is dry and well attenuated with soft carbonation and creamy texture. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with ClarkVV, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 26, 2007
Pre-RBSG Milwaukee: Growler: Poured black with an off white head. Aroma, coffee, chocolate, and some roasted malts. Flavor, coffee, chocolate, and a dry earthy bitterness on the end. Good stuff. fro2218 (471) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 22, 2007
Black with a dark tan head. Smells like well....coffee. The coffee is not too overpowering - a nice flavor with tobacco undertones.
