ganache (6035) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Draught at the Southern Sun. Pitch, creamy light brown head. Nose is a little sweeter and maltier. Thin and undistinguished with wings of sweetness. Incredibly, smooth and creamy. Repeatable. Thinnish side of medium. Nikiel (879) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 12, 2011
On tap with Carla at Southern Sun. Pours a deep brown with red/brown foam. Smells roasty and lightly spicy. Tastes roasty with hints of chocolate, coffee, and cayenne. Feels very thin and doesn’t have as much flavor as I would like. The spice of the cayenne is nice and is strong enough without overpowering the rest of this relatively unremarkable beer. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2011
draft. early pour from the keg is cloudy dull brown with noticeable yeast but in aroma and flavor. nose of dusty cocoa powder and faint chili and cinnamon is somewhat obscured by the yeast, while the heat come across late on the back of the tongue as red pepper flakes and chili powder, while i’m told there were 3 chile varieties used for this beer - hard to tell. light cocoa and milk (yeast) flavor up front. mostly dry; mildly rough texture; lacks smoothness but the flavors are interesting to say the least.
