Very dark brown colour with a low-slung, fairly creamy head. Light coffee aroma with hints of nuts and very faint molasses. Fairly coffeeish character, light roast. A fairly assertive, stouty example. Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - OCT 5, 2005
nice black pour with a light brown hea. chocolate straw aroma with some grass in there for shits and giggles. roast chocolate flavor with a dry yet watery finish. powder finish has a lot of hot chocolate taste here. very active on my tongue. hershey bar wood and grass wrap this up. A pitch black beer with a fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet roasted malty. The flavor is slightly sweet with notes of chocolate and coffee. Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 6, 2005
Opaque, thin head. Light chocolate aroma. Roasted, chocolate malt profile. Body is a little light, could be thicker.

Draught. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, caramel), lightly hoppy (grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Only the grapfruit juice in the aroma turns me off. The rest of its characteristics work well for me. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - SEP 17, 2003
Appearance: Pearl Porter pours a dark brown with red bricking. It's opaque.
Flavor: it's definitely 'roasty' lots of that kind of flavor in this brew.
Aroma: The smell is of roasted nuts & perhaps coffee. This is a dry drinking porter and quite tasty. I'd recommend it. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - APR 6, 2003
Black as the dark side of the moon. Lasting, thick head. Mouthfeel is lightish, but definitely pronounced. Rich and roasty, without an overpowering malt sweetness. Mild burntness with a sugary coffee note. Wholesome, nicely balanced. Rich finish with a healthy hoppiness and a lingering bitterness. I really enjoyed this porter.
