This is an exceptional pale ale. Hops gallore! It tastes like a dream wrapped in a river of centennial hops. Something about this beer makes me giddy like a school girl. Only problem is that it’s NOT AVAILABLE most of the time. I wish the Sun brewers would keep this awesome brew on tap at all times... But otherwise, keep brewin’!!! jmcguire1969 (162) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - AUG 20, 2005
I love this beer. I’ve had this on many occasions after good hikes in the flatirons and just making happy hour after 14’ers. This is the more dry hopped version of their IPA’s...Illusion Dweller is much more sweet. This one has a cloudy appearance but good lacing. Aroma is orange blossom and grapefruit...which lasts through the last sip. Bitterness is just right. I took a few 1/4 barels to Moab this year and even after the trip’s leftovers it was some good drinking "hop juice". Braudog (6791) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - APR 26, 2006
Full size draft at the brewpub, 4/14/06: Light orange and ruddy. Mandarin orange aroma. Fruit-salad hoppiness with a neat bitter finish. Excellent. jimbowood (1036) - Freeport, Georgia, USA - OCT 5, 2006
Mason jar purchased @ Mountain Sun during GABF week 2006. Was worried about this one b/c when I unpacked it after the trip, the seal on the Mason jar had expanded and beer was leaking out. Decided to open it tonight w/ the expectation of pouring it out due to oxidation. Cracked it open and I knew I wouldn’t be pouring it out. Huge hop aroma and thick, bubbly head. Body is very smooth and light, w/ the finish packing a huge flowery, rose petal hop finish. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 28, 2009
On nitro tap in Jan 09: Pours a transparent deep golden with a rich, well-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of fresh resiny grapefruity hops and lightly sweet pale malt. Starts with a smooth creamy palate and nice light malty sweetness with good assertive citrusy hoppy balance before a crisp bittersweet finish. A very nice IPA.

Had this "full moon firkin" draft at Vines in Denver. Light orange pour with moderate head. Perfect floral and citrus taste and aroma. Love it clingman71 (297) - Centerville, Ohio, USA - JUL 23, 2005
Draft. Hazy slightly dark orange color with decent body. Dry and hoppy with great hop flavor, but lacking just a little as far as hop aroma. I had never heard of Mountain Sun , but it was reccommended by brewers at Avery and Great Divide following tours of their breweries. bitter (1136) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - JAN 4, 2006
another over the top loaded with more hops than you know what to do with ,,,i give my friends the swan song. resiny grapefruit, citrus, pine infused sticky hops all the way down. good but still about the same as there others. slightly monochromatic. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JUL 10, 2006
This is truly great stuff. Powerful and pungent aroma, of grapefruit and pine needles. The flavor is a little more earthy than I expected, with some great fruit flavors lingering throughout. Has a kind of tea like consistency that kind of sits on your palate and lingers and lingers after each sip. Nice! luckygirl (1223) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 15, 2006
Draught at Southern Sun. 8 oz. sample. Beer was a hazy, medium, tawny-gold color with a white, frothy, mostly diminishing head. Nicest of MS’s IPA’s. The aroma was pretty—clean, floral and fruity. It was malty with moderate notes of toasted grain and sweet caramel; Hoppy with a moderate notes of herb, resin/pine and flowers; Yeasty with a trace soap note; Miscellaneous notes of moderate green apple and pineapple. The flavor was moderately bitter, moderately sweet, lightly acidic and trace salty with a long, grippy, moderately bittersweet, lightly acidic finish. Slightly salty all of the way through. The body was medium, the texture was velvety and the carbonation was average.
