Sampler at the Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, Boulder 12/10/2008
Roast and hop aromas. Dark coloured strong in alcohol and fruity with a crisp dry and bitter chocolate roast finish. Ratman197 (15204) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 25, 2009
On tap at Mouintain Sun poured a clear dark brown with a small diminishing brown head. Aromas of coffee, carmel, milk chocolate, brown sugar and light roastiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and milk chocolate with a smooth lingering chocolate finish. BlackDonald (1126) - Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA - AUG 1, 2008
This was an extremely nice beer to drink. Full bodied and very much on the big and rich side, creamy mouthfeel with lots of malt ball and chocolate creme maltiness. Burnt bread crumbs, and a bit of roasted coffee come through as well, this would have been just fine being this malty, but the piney hops kind of throw it out of balance in the finish in my opinion. Still lovely to drink. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - JUL 8, 2008
Sampled at the brewhouse. A very very full bodied stout. Thin lacey head. Strong barley malts but goes down smooth. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - MAY 15, 2008
Draft at brewery. Body-opaque with a very thick ring of bubbles. Nose-lightly soured milk, light coffee, toffee. Taste-light sweetened coffee, very low hop presence, piney, lightly grassy, kind of soft mouthfeel, light unsweet Dr. Pepper, toothpicks, soft finish., Quite enjoyable stout.

This is a wonderfully complex stout. With notes of toasted oats, roasted barley, and black malt. Marris Otter malt comes through as well. Fantastic Stout! The pub "is what it is" but come here for the beer!! waolsen (1376) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - JUN 17, 2007

Poured an opaque black color with a thin, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, light chocolate, vanilla beans, toffee, and a bit of lactose. Taste of sweet chocolate, dry, roasted malts, anise, and citrus hops. Somewhat astringent mouthfeel.
