[Aged 4 years] Poured a hazy, red amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of madeira, tobacco, light citrus, and orange peel. Taste of sherry, citrus fruits, vanilla, caramel malts, with pine, a bit of cardboard, grassy hops, more, tobacco, and light alcohol in the finish.

Draught at the brewery. Beer is murky medium-hued caramel-brownn colored with a small, frothy, creamy beigh head. Slowly diminishes.<P>
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, caramel; Hoppy with heavy notes of resin/pine, moderate notes of chewy dried apricot; Yeasty with a light note of dough and a trace of dish rag; Tracec boozy alcohol note.<P>
The flavor is moderately-to-heavily sweet, moderately bitter, lightly-to-moderately acidic with a long, light-to-moderately bitter, lightly sweet, trace acidic finish. Light alcohol warmth on finish.<P>

An unclear brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty, while the flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt and alcohol, leading to a dry end. The body is nice.

I thought this beer was "ashy," somewhat harsh, and a little unbalanced. Big, smoky flavors seemed to rule. The palate was spikey (carbonation and alcohol) on the top and a little watery underneath. Finished with a cabbage-like off-flavor I wasn't too fond of. I didn't find it quite as bad as I'm describing it, but I'm focusing on the negatives I found. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation.
